Fishing for catfish with dead bait, either spinning or jigging, is a simple but efficient method. Simply insert the lead spike into the mouth and belly of the fish. Then, to keep the fish from spinning, insert the needle tip of the safety pin into the fish’s chin. The copper wire is intended to keep the fish in place. PVC coated copper wire and a rubber coated treble are used in the MADCAT® A-STATIC designed to reduce the electric field that spooks fish. It’s worth noting that the rubber coating can wear off over time.
