Fishing conditions are very changeable and depending on what time of year it is you can be roasting one minute and freezing the next. In the UK for example, during early Spring, you might be faced with a cold start to the day which requires significant layering. This would typically comprise a base layer, shirt or fleece, and a waterproof and windproof jacket. As the day progresses, it can change from 7 or 8 degrees to the mid to high teens so wearing three layers is uncomfortable.
